The CELPIP- General Exam assesses functional Listening, Reading, Writing, and speaking skills, and is approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as evidence of English.

Types of Exam

CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS Tests are English language proficiency tests that are multi-purpose. CELPIP stands for Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. The CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS Tests allows test takers to demonstrate their ability to function in English and provide trained raters (i.e., evaluation evaluators) ample opportunity to assess the test taker’s performance in terms of the Writing and Speaking Test modules.


Evaluators aren’t essential for the Listening and Reading Tests because these are assessed using a computer. Test Day Preparation
