The computer automatically scores the Listening and Reading Tests. Each of these tests has several varieties of multiple choice questions following a Listening audio clip, a video clip, or a Reading passage. The answers are presented in a drop-down menu, and test takers use the computer mouse to select their answer to the question.
Human raters assess and score the Writing and Speaking Tests. Test takers compose their Writing responses on the computer, and Speaking responses are recorded on the computer using a headset. These responses are sent to the Paragon office, where they are scored by trained and experienced raters.
